“As with the “Tube house”, Winzar had to work with a single-fronted Victorian on a tight block.  The contraints dictated the design, which is why she does not expect to creat such a n affect again..”The euyelid was site specigic. You can;t ouck it up and put it somewhere else.. My work is laywas response to the locale. : Winzar aimas for ther houses to be “very human, wamr and inviting”, adding that she isn’t interested in a white boc where you can’t make any mess”.

Hers is not the only house to have been deemed to have eyebrow or eyelid qualities.  Another is the Cockerill house , by Tasmanian Architects Xsquared Architects.

Architect Peter Scoott says the “popped-up or eylelid openness” to the back extension was intentional for this Hobart house. “While Fiona Winzar;s Eyelid house was designed to screen its interior from overlooking, the idea that ourreverse eyelid itself was generally concealed was what we gound most delightful about it...” - Living Design
