An extremely detailed renovation and refurbishment of an existing 1970s house to provide more light and a greater sense of space.  The renovation involved removing a sweep of bedrooms that blocked easterly views over the Derwent River and the creation of a completely new roof.  A new eyebrow window was introduced into this new roof to capture afternoon sunshine that illuminates the kitchen and living spaces towards the end of the day.

Significant improvements in thermal performance were achieved through the addition of substantial insulation and timber framed double glazing and improved energy efficient radiant heating was added.  Changes to the layout of the house to orient and open the primary spaces more to the east and north have substantially improved the passive thermal performance of the house and the heating system is only required as a back up on particularly cold days
